  • Short Description: "So you want to be a DM?" is a workshop geared towards long time/short time players looking to try stepping behind the screen. Whether you've tried once, or not at all, this workshop will walk through the basic steps of running an adventure!

First Time DM's Welcome! Running An Adventure

You need to be registered and logged in to buy tickets.

Please read the below to make sure this workshop is right for you!

So, you've seen the very cool screen and you're curious about all the filthy, deplorable, dastardly little secrets behind it?

This workshop will be geared towards those who have either dabbled as a DM or are brand new to it. If you've been a forever player or a recent player looking for a helping hand to run a story of your own, then this is the workshop for you. If you are a DM and have already run a few modules on your own, please note that this will be very beginner oriented and may cover things you already know. We will be running with an adventure that is absolutely incredibly well written for begginer DMs, "The Silvyr Tower" by levenimc, and walking you through how to run this module step by step. This module was the first adventure i ever ran and out of all the beginner friendly modules, this ones layout is phenomenal and will make things very easy to work with.

Should you wish to read the module ahead of time this is very much encouraged but not at all necessary. The module is 100% free due to the generosity of the writer: The Silvyr Tower The Silvyr Tower(Printer Friendly)

Things you will learn in this workshop:
- How to run an already prepared module (The Silvyr Tower)
- How to run Social encounters,
- Ability checks (where and when to ask for them),
- How to run Puzzle Encounters
- How to run Combat Encounters (Initiative, Monster Statblocks, Narrating the flow of combat)
- How to keep players engaged/moving
- Depending on attendance, we will also have some example Combat and Social encounters and rotate the DM chair to give everyone a chance to try a few rounds.

What you will need to bring:
- If i could please have everyone bring a level 4 character to this using our normal TorontoDND rules and allowable options. While we may not use everyone's character, it would be alot easier if when we try our example encounters that everyone is using a character that they know well enough as appose to level 4 pregens.
- Something to take notes in/with if you so choose! (Pencils will be provided)

Should you have any questions prior to please feel free to message me on Discord. You should be able to find me by searching my name.
